The Cambridge DELTA is a qualification for practising teachers in the field of ELT. In accordance with guidelines laid out in the Cambridge DELTA Handbook, it is highly advisable that candidates following the programmes have the following:

a first degree

an initial ELT qualification

a minimum of 2 years full time (1200 hours) teaching experience of ELT within the past 5 years

a range of teaching experience working in different teaching contexts and teaching different levels

an appropriate awareness of language and language competence in English sufficient to follow the programme and complete all assessed elements successfully

for Module 2, a class you teach regularly throughout the course. This can be an online or face to face class, or a mix with some lessons online and some face to face.

for Module 3, although you do not need to be teaching for the entirety of the course, you need to have access to a class for research purposes. This access can be online or face to face.
